Warranty

Repairs

At Nowlan Jewellery Co., we take pride in the quality of our craftsmanship. All repairs carried out in our onsite workshop are completed with care, precision, and the highest industry standards. To ensure your peace of mind, we offer the following warranty on our jewellery repairs.

Warranty Coverage

We offer a 12-month warranty on workmanship for all standard jewellery repairs completed by Nowlan Jewellery Co.

This warranty covers:

  • Resizing issues (if the ring was sized incorrectly based on original measurements)

  • Loose or fallen stones (if the setting has failed due to workmanship)

  • Soldering or joint failures

  • Clasp or chain repairs (if the same break reoccurs due to workmanship)

Rhodium Plating

Rhodium plating is a popular service used to enhance the brightness and whiteness of white gold jewellery. While we apply rhodium plating with care and precision, it is important to understand that rhodium is a surface finish and not a permanent treatment.

Because the longevity of rhodium plating depends heavily on individual wear, exposure to chemicals, skin pH, and daily activities, we do not offer a long-term warranty on rhodium plating.

We do, however, guarantee the initial quality of our plating and will happily correct any issues (such as uneven coverage) reported within 14 days of the service.

Please note that rhodium plating naturally wears off over time and will need to be reapplied periodically. This is considered routine maintenance and is not covered under our general repair warranty.

To help prolong the finish, we recommend removing jewellery before swimming, applying lotions or perfumes, or doing household chores.

What’s Not Covered

Our warranty does not cover:

  • Damage due to misuse, accidental impact, improper care, or general wear and tear

  • Loss or damage to gemstones after the item has left our premises, unless clearly related to faulty workmanship

  • Tarnishing or discolouration from exposure to chemicals, swimming pools, or beauty products

  • Repairs or alterations made by another jeweller or workshop

  • Changes in ring size due to natural finger size fluctuation or incorrect sizing by the customer

Gemstone Security

We take every precaution to ensure your stones are secure when leaving our workshop. However, due to the delicate nature of jewellery, we recommend periodic checks (every 6–12 months) to ensure settings remain secure. These checks are complimentary.

Risks & Disclaimers

While we take every precaution to ensure the highest standard of care during repairs, some jewellery carries inherent risks that may limit the success or longevity of certain services. In these cases, we will always aim to advise you before proceeding with any work but in some cases this may not be known to Nowlan Jewellery Co. until after the team has begun the repair booked in.

Third-Party Manufactured Jewellery

Repairs performed on jewellery not made by Nowlan Jewellery Co. may not be covered under our warranty if:

  • The original design lacks minimum structural integrity (e.g., too thin, narrow, or fragile)

  • Components have not been crafted to industry standards or best practices

  • The design places excessive strain on joints, settings, or resizing points

We reserve the right to decline warranty coverage for repairs where the original design compromises the durability or success of our work.

Metal Condition

Some metals—particularly in older, mass-produced, or lower-quality pieces—may be:

  • Porous or brittle, increasing the likelihood of cracking or breakage during repair

  • Difficult to work with using standard techniques without risk of damage

While we take great care, repairs on these materials are undertaken at the customer’s risk, and are not covered by warranty.

Resizing Limitations

Rings that have been resized multiple times may:

  • Show signs of stress or thinning at previous join points

  • No longer safely accommodate additional resizing

In such cases, we may recommend installing a half or full shank to restore strength or suggest remaking the ring if further resizing could compromise its structure. Resizing work on such pieces may fall outside warranty coverage.

Claims Process

To make a warranty claim:

  1. Bring the item back to our store at your earliest convenience.

  2. Provide your original repair receipt or proof of purchase.

  3. Our jeweller will assess the item and advise if the issue falls under warranty.

If the repair is deemed a warranty case, we will correct the issue at no charge. If not, we will provide a no-obligation quote for any required work.

Final Notes

This warranty is non-transferable and only applies to the original customer. We reserve the right to modify or update this policy at any time.

Custom Designs

Utmost care is taken in making each individual Nowlan Jewellery Co. piece of jewellery and our warranty covers all manufacturing faults on a piece for a period of twelve months from the date of purchase. In the event that a manufacturing fault is found the piece will be repaired at no cost to you. This includes reimbursement for shipping when a receipt is provided.

All other damage/wear including everyday wear and tear, damage to diamonds/gemstones or other forms of damage are not covered by our warranty. Wear and tear is not considered a fault and as such is not covered by our warranty.

Manufacturing Faults do not include the following:

  • General wear and tear.

  • Damage from improper care or negligence.

  • Broken/bent claws or prongs.

  • Pieces that are scratched, bent or misshaped.

  • Chipped, cracked, broken or lost gemstones.

  • Any work including resizes and repairs undertaken by another jeweller.

  • Chains that are stretched or pulled inappropriately resulting in broken links.

  • Any inclusions found within Gemstones are not considered damage as they are a part of the natural growth process created in the formation of the stone itself.

Although diamonds & gemstones are hard, they can be broken, chipped or lost if not carefully cared for. Gemstones/diamonds that have come loose, damaged or lost due to damage are not covered under warranty.

All of our pieces are made from precious metals including gold, platinum and sterling silver amongst others. These metals need to be cared for as they are much softer than many other objects used in everyday life. You can scratch or damage the metal by picking up steel or other hard objects or hitting the piece on hard surfaces. Scratches and other forms of damage to the piece are not covered by our warranty.

We offer free yearly clean and polish service, which includes checking for any stones that may have loosened over time. If there are no signs of external damage the stones will be tightened at no charge. If there is signs of external wear and tear this will be quoted on a case by case basis before repairs are made.

Please note that if any other jeweller undertakes work on one of our pieces, including resizing, repairs or alterations this warranty will be voided. We strongly recommend returning to us for any repairs and resizes. We do not take any responsibility for repairs or resizes undertaken by other jewellers.

Jewellery can easily be damaged, lost or stolen and as such we strongly encourage all of our clients to insure their jewellery with an adequate insurance policy. Ensure your insurance policy covers you for accidental damage to your piece, loss and theft. It is also wise to keep records of your jewellery including photos of the pieces.

This warranty is for the original owner of the piece and is not transferrable.
